The justices and gender pronouns
Topic: Political Correctness
Source: The SCOTUS Blog
Last month, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J. At issue was whether Idaho and West Virginia laws that prohibit transgender women and girls from competing on schools’ female sports teams violate the Constitution’s equal protection clause and Title IX, a federal civil rights law that bars sex discrimination in educational programs and activities that receive federal funding. The cases generated a great deal of attention, and by arguments’ end there was a consensus that the court was “skeptical of challenges to bans on trans athletes.” What gained less attention was the language employed by the justices during oral argument, and in particular, the pronouns they used when referring to transgender people. This varied significantly by justice – although, based on past cases, such choice of language may offer only limited insight into how each justice is likely to rule.

Prince William Against Protecting Ex-Prince Andrew Amid Scandal
Topic: Violence Against Women
Source: Reality Tea
Sources say King Charles III, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward are all said to be gentle toward their brother and prefer to handle the situation quietly. Sources describe a long-standing belief among older members of the family that royal issues should be handled privately. “They want this managed privately,” one insider explained. “Handled internally. Kept away from authorities.” However, there is one clear disagreement. Prince William is reportedly strongly against continuing to protect his uncle. “William thinks Andrew is radioactive,” a source said. “And that shielding him makes the whole family look complicit.”

US Births Fell Again in 2025 Amid Ongoing Social And Economic Uncertainty
Topic: Children and Family
Source: Science Alert
US births fell a little in 2025, according to newly posted provisional data. Slightly over 3.6 million births have been reported through birth certificates, or about 24,000 fewer than in 2024. The decline seems to confirm predictions by some experts, who doubted a slight increase in births in 2024 marked the start of an upward trend. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its provisional birth data late last week, filling in two months of missing data and offering the first good look at last year's tally. The posted numbers account for nearly all of the babies born in 2025, according to the CDC. Data is still being compiled and analyzed, but the final tally might only add "a few thousand additional births," said Robert Anderson, who oversees birth and death tracking at the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics.

North Korea executed schoolchildren for watching ‘Squid Game’
Topic: Children and Family
Source: The New York Post
North Korea is executing schoolchildren for watching South Korean TV shows and listening to K-Pop, including Netflix’s hit series “Squid Game,” according to Amnesty International. Escapees told the human rights group that teenagers and even middle school students have been publicly executed, sent to labor camps or subjected to brutal public humiliations for consuming foreign media banned by the regime. The accounts are based on 25 in-depth interviews conducted in 2025 with North Koreans who fled the country between 2012 and 2020, the organization said.

Georgia county fires cop for confronting trans person who used ladies’ room
Topic: Political Correctness
Source: The Center Square
Records show officer intervened after a woman with two children complained. The DeKalb County Police Department has fired a veteran officer for telling a transgender library patron to stay out of the women’s restroom, according to internal records obtained by The Center Square. The records also show that the officer, who faced public accusations of “transphobia," got involved that day because a woman with two children complained to a library security guard about a man being in their restroom, according to the security guard’s account to police contained in the investigative file.

Ghislaine Maxwell Takes the Fifth
Topic: Porn, Prostitution, and Sexual Freedom
Source: The Guardian (UK)
She appears before House panel but doesn't answer any questions. Ghislaine Maxwell did indeed appear via video before a House committee on Monday, and lawmakers got the answers they expected: Zilch. The longtime associate of Jeffrey Epstein took the Fifth on every question, reports the Wall Street Journal. "She answered no questions and provided no information," said Rep. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, after the closed-door session. "Who is she protecting?" Maxwell attorney David Markus said his client would be happy to answer all their questions—if she is granted clemency.

Dying Mothers, the Birth of Handwashing
Topic: Individualist Feminism

...and the Bittersweet True Love Story Behind ‘Frankenstein’ [Ed: a must read.] Semmelweis went as far as calling doctors who didn’t wash their hands murderers and warned medical students that unless they adopted his protocol, they would be accomplices in an epochal crime. Unsurprisingly, Semmelweis was largely dismissed; unsurprisingly, he grew increasingly cantankerous. By the time he was in his early forties, the idealistic young doctor had undergone a staggering physiological and psychological change — he looked at least sixty, had frequent detonations of temper, and suffered baffling lapses of memory in the midst of lectures. The mysterious malady — possibly early-onset Alzheimers, possibly tertiary syphilis, likely some parallel discomposure of body and spirit — made him unbearable to be around.

Ghislaine Maxwell to plead Fifth Amendment in upcoming deposition
Topic: Violence Against Women
Source: The Hill
Ghislaine Maxwell intends to plead the Fifth Amendment to avoid self-incrimination during her Monday deposition in front of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, her attorney, David Markus, told NewsNation. Maxwell, the former girlfriend and longtime accomplice of the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, is less than four years into a 20-year prison sentence she is serving for her role in procuring and sexually trafficking victims of the disgraced financier.

California defends 'gender secrecy' policies before Supreme Court,
Topic: Political Correctness
Source: Just the News
California claims it balances parental rights with protections for transgender students by hiding the latter's gender transitions from the former, absent extraordinary circumstances. Parents suing the Golden State to end its so-called gender secrecy policies claim California "balances the parent’s interests like McDonald’s balances the cow’s." The parties recently made their cases to the Supreme Court to either vacate or uphold a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals' ruling that temporarily blocks a lower court's ban on California's policies, Those policies, the plaintiffs say, keep parents in the dark about their children's gender confusion and muzzle teachers who want to tell parents about it.

Iran Adds 7 Years to Nobel Laureate's Sentence
Topic: Violence Against Women
Source: Deutsche Welle
Narges Mohammadi was days into a hunger strike. A court in Iran has imposed more prison time on Nobel Peace Prize recipient Narges Mohammadi, her lawyer said Sunday, days after she began a hunger strike. Mostafa Nili posted on X that Mohammadi was sentenced to six additional years for "gathering and collusion" and another 18 months for propaganda, and was given a two-year travel ban. Under Iranian law, prison terms generally run concurrently, but the Narges Mohammadi Foundation said the new ruling brings the total time she has been ordered to serve over multiple cases to more than 44 years, Deutsche Welle reports. The group organization called the latest proceeding a "sham trial."

Why Pete Hegseth Is Right To Take A ‘Sledgehammer’ To The 8(a) Scam
Topic: Gender Discrimination
Source: The Daily Wire
Last month, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth made a seismic announcement: “We’re taking a sledgehammer to the oldest DEI program in the federal government. A program few people outside of Washington have ever heard of. That I haven’t heard of. It’s called the 8(a) program.” We’re confident that Daily Wire readers knew about the program: Our own investigative reporter Luke Rosiak testified to the Senate about the fraud-ridden, multi-billion dollar minority contracting scheme just a month earlier. He’s written about it extensively for years. Under the decades-old 8(a) program, 5% of all federal contracts are “set aside” for minority- and women-owned businesses. That’s right — instead of a competitive process that identifies the best company with the best value, government officials direct contracts to specific companies, with no bidding at all, based on minority status.

Victory for Choice: Idaho Parental Choice Tax Credit Upheld
Topic: Children and Family
Source: Cato Institute
“Phew!” That’s the sound echoing around Idaho today after the state supreme court ruled yesterday in favor of the new Idaho Parental Choice Tax Credit. The program, which was enacted last year and launched on January 15 of this year, provides a refundable tax credit that families can use to defray educational costs such as private school tuition, tutoring, curricula, and industry-recognized certification exams. As of February 3, more than 5,000 applications for the tax credit had been submitted for more than 9,000 students. The credit is worth $5,000 per student or $7,500 per student with special needs.

Free speech for me but not for thee
Topic: Political Correctness
Source: Activist Post
Facing an authoritarian bombast in the White House, the Left has suddenly rediscovered the value of free speech. After years of supporting clampdowns through the preposterous phenomenon of ‘hate speech’, now left-wing activists are having their wings clipped for allegedly hateful protests and social media posts. Whereas the Right has been accustomed to censorship and ostracising by polite society for many decades, the Left has not tended to feel the need to apologise for its existence. Consequently, its adherents have been slower to emerge from the trenches of the political divide, and to roam in ‘no man’s land’.

Will Falling Birth Rates Mean A More Conservative World?
Topic: Children and Family
Source: The Epoch Times
George Orwell was on to it almost 80 years ago—the problem of below-replacement level birth rates. In a short book written for the Britain in Pictures series in 1947, written just as Britain was emerging from wartime rigors into an uncharted postwar future, Orwell noted that despite an upward blip in birth rates during the war, “the general curve is downward. The position is not quite so dangerous as it is sometimes said to be, but can only be put right if the curve not only rises sharply but does so within ten or at most twenty years.” “Otherwise,” he went on, forebodingly, “the population will not only fall, but, what is worse, will consist predominantly of middle-aged people. If that point is reached, the decline may never be retrievable.” Orwell did not live to see it—he died at the age of 46 in 1950—but the danger was averted. Postwar birth rates rose in Britain and parts of Europe, though not so robustly as in the United States, where the baby boom peaked in 1957 and petered out after the introduction of the birth control pill in 1962.

Is This the End of Transgender Hysteria?
Topic: Political Correctness
Source: Hot Air
During the 2020 presidential race, then-candidate Joe Biden tweeted, "Transgender equality is the civil rights issue of our time." As president in 2023, Biden followed up by stating, "Transgender people are some of the bravest Americans I know." That same year, the transgender fad achieved unprecedented reach among impressionable youngsters: While Gallup reported that (an already-high) 7% of all Americans identified as LGBTQ, that number soared to 20% of all Gen Z -- and as high as 38% on some elite Ivy League campuses. But the social craze began to face setbacks.

Men Are Going to Strike Back
Topic: Men's Movement

There’s a clip going around where some obnoxious woman decides that a guy walking out of a Quik-i-Mart is a nice guy and she takes it upon herself, being the heroine and the main character of the epic saga that is her life, to knock his cup of coffee from his hands. He’s a fairly big guy, fit, and he doesn’t lay her out across the parking lot with a right cross. It’s not that she doesn’t deserve it – she does. It’s that he is still defaulting to the male role in a chivalry system that no longer exists. This dumb woman is relying on the very guardrails she has bulldozed; she’s going to try it again, and this time she’s going to lose a bunch of teeth.

Gender medicine isn’t quite dead yet
Topic: Political Correctness
Source: Spiked Online
Leading medical experts are still in denial about biological reality. This is not to suggest the entire medical profession has bought in to today’s gender theory. Less than a week after the $2million gender transition verdict, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons issued a new position opposing ‘gender-affirming’ surgeries in patients under the age of 19. The American Medical Association (AMA), the nation’s largest organisation representing doctors, on Wednesday said these procedures generally should be deferred until patients reach adulthood. The AMA said that while it continues to support treatment for minors seeking gender-related care, given the sparse research on the risks and benefits of surgical procedures, it concurred with the plastic surgeons. ‘In the absence of clear evidence, the AMA agrees with ASPS that surgical interventions in minors should be generally deferred to adulthood’, the statement said.

Raskin: Voter ID Law Violates the 19th Amendment in Denying the Vote to Women
Topic: Gender Discrimination
Source: Jonathan Turley
With polling showing over 80 percent of Americans in favor of voter ID laws, it is hard to come up with reasons why you need an ID to board a plane but not vote in a federal election. That was particularly glaring this week when Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) required people to show an ID to attend his campaign events after opposing an ID requirement to vote. So if you want to hear Ossoff speak against voter ID, you will have to show your ID. Now Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has a rather bizarre argument: the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, if passed, would likely violate the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.
